Scott Monument

The Scott monument was built in honour of Sir Walter Scott.  This was another happy accident of ours - we had not really planned our site seeing in advance!  We were walking around Edinburgh when we first spotted it.  Later we noticed that it seemed you could climb up it, so we did!  It was an amazingly windy day.  There are a few levels at which you can leave the stairway and walk out onto a platform.  On a couple of them we really thought there was a chance we could get blown off!  The top was just incredibly windy.  We have a movie taken from the camera that shows Melissa's hair blowing around out of control and all you can hear is the wind across the microphone.

The views from the top were excellent, although it was hard to take pictures with the wind!
